I would like to welcome you to our first ever blog. As you may know, Wirt’s Jewelers is a family owned and operated jewelry store and jewelry repair center in North Little Rock, Arkansas. We have been going strong for the last 45+ years. And for that wonderful success the Wirt family would like to thank you all. We know that it’s our wonderful customers that keep our doors open.
We have been very blessed to be able to enjoy so many wonderful moments in our customer’s lives.
We have watched many come in as young children only to grow up to purchase their engagement rings and anniversary gifts. Graduations, births, deaths, all of these moments are important in all of our lives. We treasure them. And what better way to keep the moment close to your heart than a treasure to wear to remember.
With that being said, I would like to talk about engagement rings. Engagement rings are not just some pretty given to impress. It’s a show of how much you love your mate and that you are engaged to be married. Along with how well you will be able to provide for her and that you are committed to her. Engagement rings date back to the Roman times. In some cultures both men and women wear engagement rings. The rings can be anything from a simple band to the glamorous. Engagement rings have held any and every gemstone imaginable. Diamonds didn’t take the lead until the 1930s, but they have held strong over this time. Sapphires, Rubies, Emeralds (I don’t recommend), along with man made stones such as Moissanites and Cubic Zirconia have all been used as the center piece of the engagement ring.
A common question I am asked is, “How much should I spend? “. My answer, “Whatever you want. “ I know that doesn’t sound very romantic but it’s the truth. Engagement rings come in all price ranges. It just depends on what requirements you have for the ring. We have all heard “3 months salary” rule when purchasing your engagement ring. The tradition of 3 months salary was set not only to be a tangible sign of your means but also allow you time to save and find the best buy for your money. In 2007, the average price for an engagement ring in the United States was $2,000 to $3,000. So what will that amount get you? With Romance Petit Couture engagement rings, A LOT. Come by our showroom or check out our Engagement Ring page to view some of our selection. A one carat diamond of good color and clarity will fall somewhere in the $3,000 to $5,000 range. I know that there is a big difference in price but there is also a big difference product also. Keep in mind that gemstones are natural and no two are alike. When comparing stones be sure to see the stones in person. Do not just put all your faith in a certificate. You need to trust the person selling you the stone. They are just as able to steal you blind in the beginning as they are in the end. Don’t under value service after the sale either. The internet is a great place to learn, but you don’t have a person to get face to face with if a problem arises. We wear diamonds because they sparkle and are pretty. You can’t see it over a computer screen no matter how well the picture or video is, even with or without Photoshop.
I would personally love to help you find the perfect engagement ring. It is by far my favorite part of the job. I love to hear your story and I hope that I will be able to bring you together with the ring of her dreams.
Thank You All,
Our staff of GIA trained and accredited professionals with over 50 years of experience.
